In the latest episode of ‘The Grand Tour’, Richard Hammond takes one of our roof tents for the adventure of a lifetime, installed on top of an Aston Martin DB9.
What was that car tent on Richard Hammond's car?
You may have been wondering what that tent on top of Richard Hammond's car was.
Sadly, the Amazon production team decided to tape over our TentBox logos; but it was in fact a TentBox Lite 2.0 roof tent in slate grey. This roof tent can be installed to almost any vehicle and if you want one for your car, you can have one!
Our team would be happy to help talk you through the simple installation, or you can check out our quick guide for more info.
How did a TentBox end up on The Grand Tour?
In 2023, at the request of the Amazon production team, we sent a TentBox Lite 2.0 to the mechanics who were building the vehicles, for an up and coming episode.
All we knew is that it would be installed onto Richard Hammond's vehicle, and was going to be taken somewhere in Africa.
After the release of the official trailer (below), we now know that the latest trip taken by the famous trio was to Mauritania, in the north of Africa. The episode is called ‘Sand Job’.
We haven’t seen the full episode yet, and have no idea what to expect, so we are excited (but also a little apprehensive) to see what happens.
From what we can see they really took the TentBox through its paces in the Sahara. It even looks like they may have blown it up!? We hope not!
What we do know is that the episode will likely be a lot of fun and we hope Richard Hammond enjoyed sleeping in the TentBox.
Updates coming soon
Once the episode launches on Prime on the 16th February, we’ll update this article with our thoughts.
